It is a serious breach of APA ethics and should not be tolerated.

Perhaps the most insidious feature of the brutal fringe practice called Attachment Therapy is its unrecognized AD diagnosis which unreasonably sets the stage for fear and distrust of children – and ultimately their abuse.

Even the APA's own Division on Child Maltreatment condemned the use of the AD diagnosis in 2006 as abusive.

There is no reliable empirical evidence that would justify Rygaard's claims about AD in his book, such as:

."..3-5% of all children show signs of severe attachment problems, often leading to social problems and violent and criminal behavior or abuse later in life. "

"...antisocial behavior throughout childhood…Intimidating, impulsive, violent and aggressive behavior, low ability to learn from social experiences [including punishment/restrictions]. The child may have a sadistic or socially destructive intent, hurt other children or animals…The child will be charming and 'trustful' towards new persons and case managers at random."

In his Fairstart training materials, Rygaard describes children with AD as:

“...acking feelings of guilt, regrets or remorse...with no long term friends…developmentally delayed.”

Rygaard states the AD diagnosis often morphs into personality disorders. He even claims children with AD may become "terrorists."

That Rygaard spreads the AD diagnosis globally is itself a type of terrorism against children.
